NMET97听力试题评述

    国家教委考试中心97年在广东省进行高考英语听力测试试点,此举引起了全国中学英语教师的极大关注。 本文拟对NMET97听力试题作一评介。(试题附后)
    一、NMET97听力试题介绍
    广东省在今年的NMET中增加了听力测试,但今年成绩不计入总分,仅作参考。98年以10%计入总分,99年 以20%计入总分。今年广东省英语高考时间是2小时30分,听力在NMET笔试前进行,共30分钟。 听力测试结束 后发笔试试卷,考生继续进行笔试。
    听力试题由四段简单的对话和两段短文组成,共809个单词, 要求考生根据听到的内容回答试卷上的问题 。每一段文字读两遍,每个问题给考生25秒钟时间回答,录音速度适中,考生能够适应。
    整个试卷的题目安排体现了从易到难,循序渐进的原则。对话和短文,对话在前,因为对话更接近生活, 句子结构和用词相对容易。在对话中,第一段和第四段对话之间又呈梯形排列。第一段对话的内容、长度和要 求回答问题的难度都不及第四段对话。
    短文要求考生能听懂一段连贯的表达,其内容和现实生活相关,但语言结构和词汇比对话稍难。其中第五 段短文共有258 个词汇,占听力试卷词汇量的四分之一;第六段短文接近于新闻稿。
    二、NMET97听力试题评价
    国家教委在广东进行加试听力的试验,其目的就是对高考进行改革,使高考能更好地反作用于中学英语教 学,更有利于大学选拔人才,逐步解决我国英语教学耗时长,效率低的现状。今年高考结束后,教师们普遍反 映,听力试题的命题是成功的。成功之处就在于命题者能依据当代应用语言学的研究成果,着眼于高考命题的 整体改革,把测试考生语言运用能力作为测试的目标,没有在辨音、辨句或简单的交际问答里兜圈子(这是学 生在学习英语的起始阶段应解决的问题);而是围绕培养学生在听的过程中获取信息的能力设置试题。命题者 选择了听觉输入最常见的两种形式:对话和叙述;并围绕日常话题(如学习,求助等),使内容贴近考生生活 实际。这样做既符合中学英语教学大纲的要求,也符合社会生活和继续学习对考生英语听能的要求。
    三、NMET97听力试题给我们的启示
    试题提示我们,中学英语教学一定要在培养学生运用英语的能力上下功夫,英语教学既要给学生讲必要的 语言知识,更要强调培养学生用英语进行交际的能力。交际能力并不仅限于听说能力(目前中学英语界的一个 认识误区就是“交际能力=听说能力”),它也包括读写能力。
    试题也提示我们,高考英语试题和英语的各类水平测试都要进行改革。高考是教学的“指挥棒”。它对中 学英语教学的反拨作用目前还没有别的手段可以代替。高考增加了听力测试,部分省市的高中毕业会考增加了 听力测试,全国各地的中考都增加了听力测试,这是中学英语考试改革的重要一步。我们认为,在有听力测试 的情况下,原来流行的书面考查语音的试题已无继续的必要。在教学中,我们应该要求学生注意发音,但通过 大量的书面试题测试语音并不能解决学生的语音问题;以前这样做是为了引导教师注意语音和口语教学。
    四、NMET听力试题与NMET复试的关系
    广东省报考外语专业的考生要参加NMET复试。其他省市称这种复试为口试。复试内容包括听力测试(占55 %),语言测试(占15%)和口试(占30%);也就是说,报考外语专业的考生参加NMET97听力测试后,还要 参加NMET97复试的听力测试。
    这里,笔者简介一下广东省NMET复试的三种题型:
    1.听力:听力有三道大题。第一大题是听力理解。题型和NMET听力试题一样,由六段对话和讲话组成,共 20个问题,涉及购机票,地铁经历,太空旅行,求职,妇女地位等内容。每段对话或讲话仅播一遍,每小题答 题时间为20秒,语速较快。
    第二大题是语音听辨。其中第1小题是辨音, 要求考生从所给四个不同的单词或虚构单词中,选出听到的 那一个,念一遍,每小题答题时间为10秒。第2小题是辨词组, 要求考生从所给四个不同的短语中选出听到的 那一个,念一遍,每小题答题时间为12秒。
    第三大题是分辨句子重音与句子的意义。举例如下:
    下面你可以听到五组小对话,试卷上印出了每组对话中的第二句原话,后跟A,B,C,D四个句子,请注意 听对话的重音,并据此指出A,B,C,D四个句中哪个在意思上与原句最接近。每组对话念一遍, 每题给15秒钟 回答时间。
    录音:—I go sailing every day in summer.
    —I go fishing every day in summer.
    答卷:I go fishing every day in summer.
    A.It is in summer that I go fishing every day.
    B.It is fishing that I go every day.
    C.I like fishing so much that I go every day.

    2.语言观察:语言观察有三道大题。举例如下:
