　　There are no stars tonight

　　But those of memory.

　　Yet how much room for memory there is

　　In the loose girdle of soft rain.

　　Yet I would lead my grandmother by the hand

　　Through much of what she would not understand;

　　And so I stumble. And the rain continues on the roof

　　With such a sound of gently pitying laughter.

　　Hart Crane（哈特·克莱恩，1899-1932），美国诗人。生于美国俄亥俄州，自幼就极度焦虑，情绪波动较大。他十几岁就开始写作，虽从未上过大学，但他按着自己的癖好阅读了大量文学作品。Hart致力于运用现代工业化都市中的景观来创造强有力的新的文学语码，其诗形式上虽依循传统，但在遣词造句上常采用古语。虽常被批评晦涩难懂及故弄玄虚，但Hart同时又被公认为是当时最具影响力的诗人之一。Hart于1932年从一艘由墨西哥驶回纽约的轮船甲板上跳海自杀，死时年仅33岁。他生前只出版了两本诗集——《白色楼群》（1926）和《桥》（1930）。
