拜伦是伟大的诗人，又是伟大的革命家。他那些雷奔电激、波翻云涌的诗篇，在他生前便震撼了整个欧洲大陆，他死后一百多年来仍在全世界传诵不衰。他也是我喜欢的诗人之一。
《悼玛格丽特表姐》是现存的拜伦诗歌中最早的一首，1802年作者14岁时所作。据《拜伦日记》，玛格丽特·帕克是作者的表姐，大约比作者大一岁，生前与作者感情甚笃。作者最早的一首诗(作于1800年，已失传)就是为她而作的。约在她14或巧岁时，因不慎跌伤，On the Death of Maret Parker,Cousin to the Author
